Kiddo Lifestyle | Audrey at 9 months
9 months//
Sleeping: Audrey has been sleeping through the night since 8 months now. She was waking 2-3 times a night wanting to nurse, however it was only comfort nursing. I knew that she was ready for sleep training, so it only took 3 nights of me going in & standing there without picking her up for her to learn to sleep through the night. And it’s been wonderful ever since 🙂 She’s been napping twice a day, morning & afternoon, typically 1-2 hours in the morning & 2-3 in the afternoon. Although, lately with her cold she’s been napping a little more often.
Eating: I remember writing about her attempt at eating Puffs back at 7 months & now here we are at 9 months eating puffs & more! Big people food that is. She finally has managed to get her pinching grasp down rather than raking. She feeds herself which obviously gets quite messy. Sleeves get mushy & soaked & stained. There are remnants of crushed banana and avocado on her butt. Kylo is diving for any long lost pieces that fall to the floor. But eating she is! Meatball, chicken, veggies, pasta, beans, yogurt, oatmeal, puffs & yogurt melts… & all the fruits in all the land! I can clean up dishes while she feeds herself. Or vacuum the living room while she feeds herself. It certainly is messier, but so very helpful once they start to feed themselves. And she’s feeling pretty proud of herself doing it 🙂 As far as sippy cups however, that’s still a work in progress. The girl has never been a fan of bottles or pacifiers… faux nips are not for her. But, we will keep trying to get her to sip some water from a sippy cup & get her used to it… even if I am trying it in 3 different types of cups.
Personality: She’s still dominantly a happy little girl. Still loves her car rides as long as she’s been fed, and she’s not on a bus with a bunch of people & sounds. Still smiles away at her sister even when her sister isn’t even trying for those smiles. She laughs and laughs when I cough or repeat “Audrey, Audrey, Audrey” over and over. She loves silly sounds & faces as most any baby does. She still prefers her own space when overstimulated. She doesn’t like me to rock her to sleep & when she’s ready to be put down into her crib, she’ll use all 4 limbs to push away from me. I hate when you do that Audrey… don’t you know? You’re my last baby & it makes me sad. But at the same time, it is so nice (unlike her sister), that she wants to be laid down & put herself to sleep. I love that this girl self-soothes for the most part, all without the aid of rocking, shushing & pacifiers. I’ll celebrate that.
She’s been babbling lots of sounds, testing out her voice. Sometimes giggling at the silly noises she suddenly makes. She has said “mama” which made Rob most jealous, but I mean… come on. Us mamas sort of deserve to be said first, am I right?! She’s been crawling since 8 months & cruising right along. It’s to the point that she makes it extremely difficult to get any work done while she’s awake. I can no longer edit photoshoots while putting her in one place with a bunch of toys & expecting her to still be there when I turn around to check. She’s quick that one. Now pulling herself up onto her legs to get a higher viewpoint. It’s probably only a matter of time now until she unfortunately makes contact with that coffee table of ours. I love this age & loved it when Mikayla was 9 months as well. It’s just so much fun. Watching them look around a room to see what all they can touch or feel or taste. Yuck! But that’s what they do. And as much work as this age is, it’s always nice to slow down & look at life through their eyes. To experience things for the first time.
Happy 9 months Audrey! We love you so very much!Â
